Welcome to

Art By Cheryl

From the Heart of Texas

Memories of vast landscapes and vibrant skies painted the backdrop of my childhood in Abilene and nearby Neinda, Texas.  I was Born in Abilene, Texas and went to school in Hamlin growing up in our little community down the road in Neinda.  My roots on a second-generation cotton farm and cattle ranch in West Central Texas fostered a deep connection to the land and its scenic beauty.  I will always be and feel deeply connected to the land, nature and scenic beauty I have always known.

I fondly remember escaping to the grove of trees bordering our cotton fields, mesmerized by the ever-changing canvas skies above. The desire to capture that ethereal beauty became a driving force for me. In high school, Mrs. Griggs, my first art teacher, recognized my passion and nurtured it. My first project, “Silas Marner,” sparked a revelation: I could create art, and it was enjoyed!

Moving to Odessa in the early 70s, I met Kathy Huffman, a talented art teacher who opened new doors. With her guidance, I explored oils and pastels, soon becoming one of my favorites to create. Soon after a transformative and inspirational pastel convention in Albuquerque further fueled my creativity, leading me to experiment with pastels pencils and mixed media art that I continue to fine tune today.

Art isn’t just my passion; it’s my way of expressing gratitude for the beauty surrounding me. Whether gazing from my window, exploring a meadow, or witnessing the ocean’s power, inspiration strikes. I thank God for his gifts and behold his majestic beauty that can never be fully captured.  I believe his light should be an inspiration to all of us in looking My palette filled with the love of art from the heart.  Light, texture, form, and color become tools to express my love for art.

Beyond painting, I bring my artistic vision to interior design, using color and composition to create charming spaces.

Welcome to my artistic journey and let me create your work of art! I hope you enjoy exploring my work.
